What is the difference between EVA, PUR, and laser edge banding?
EVA edge sealing
EVA adhesive is currently the most common material in the market, and most custom cabinet makers are using EVA edge sealing adhesive. Its advantages are simple by processing, and economical in the cost, but the disadvantages are also relatively more, using the amount of glue will be more than other material, and it is easy to affect by the outside temperature, with the EVA adhesive will also leave obvious glue lines on the edge, so for the owner which has a high requirement, I will suggest choosing other edge banding technique.
PUR edge sealing
The principle of the process is that PUR glue and air and moisture in the plate chemical reaction and bonding after the sealing is completed, the whole reaction process is irreversible, that is to say, whether high or low temperature, the solid degree of sealing will not be affected.
This kind of adhesive has stronger adhesion and irreversibility than EVA, so the banding is tight and the combination in the edge is not obvious, which makes the PUR banding much more used by the kitchen cabinet or bathroom vanity. The price of PUR adhesive is much higher than the EVA adhesive, but the amount of glue used will be about 1 times less, and the glue line is less obvious.
Laser edge sealing
Laser edge banding does not require any additional glue application system, it uses a sealing tape coated with a special polymer that melts when exposed to laser light, the bonding performance is so strong that it perfectly combines the board and the sealing tape, at the same time, the polymer of the sealing tape fills the gaps between the board and the sealing tape, and between the sealing tape and the sealing tape, achieving a seamless and complete sealing quality. In short, the entire sealing process is very fast, with no heating and waiting, instant sealing, and instant production, and the material is very environmentally friendly, allowing for a permanent, completely seamless visual and functional bond that is resistant to wear and tear while also having excellent moisture and heat resistance. The laser edgebanding product will have a seamless effect, so it will be a more beautiful visual, especially for light white-colored panels or transparent acrylic panels for high-end cabinets.
The laser edge sealer is without glue volatile pollution, and no need to clean, when the machine is idle it just needs very low energy consumption, which is good for energy saving and environmental protection.
