HMPSA pressure-sensitive hot melt retains the ability to form a serviceable bond under light pressure at room temperature. Pressure sensitive adhesives are very tacky and have unlimited open time – meaning that they can bond to another substrate at most any time.
HMPSAs are commonly used to manufacture pressure sensitive tapes and labels. Pressure sensitive adhesives are ideal for using in assembly. PSA application doesn't require elaborate equipment and can be easily automated. PSAs save time in production compared to liquid adhesives as they require no setup or long curing time.
Hot Melt Adhesive(HMA) vs. Hot Melt Pressure Sensitive Adhesive(HMPSA)
Most HMAs are normally based on EVAs, exhibiting relatively short open time (typically less than 10 seconds) and fast set speed. Comparatively, HMPSAs are primarily based on SBCs. They are permanently tacky at room temperature and offer good bonding strength under a light finger pressure. HMPSAs are commonly used to manufacture pressure sensitive tapes and labels.
